Threat Type: Threat to Commercial Vessels Geographic Area: Gulf of Aden
Over the past month, there have been reports of two drone attacks on the oil export terminal in Ash Shihr, Yemen. In combination with the UN-brokered truce in Yemen having expired, this represents an increased threat to merchant vessels operating in or near that port. U.S. commercial vessels operating near this area should exercise increased caution, and review U.S. Maritime Advisory 2022-008 (Persian Gulf, Strait of Hormuz, Gulf of Oman, Arabian Sea, Gulf of Aden, Bab al Mandeb Strait, Red Sea, and Western Indian Ocean-Threats to Commercial Vessels) for amplifying information and points of contact. This alert will automatically expire on November 29, 2022.
