The International Transport Workers’ Federation (ITF), to which the SIU is affiliated, has teamed with World Maritime University in launching an anonymous, global survey about the maritime industry’s future. SIU members are encouraged to participate.
In announcing the survey, the organizations noted, “The maritime sector will look radically different in 2040 than it does today. That’s why [we] are inviting you to tell us how prepared you feel to use new technology and tools at work.”
The link to the survey is here: https://bit.ly/seafarers7
It should take approximately 15 minutes to complete; the deadline for responses is Feb. 15, 2022.
The announcement further notes:
“In the survey you’ll be asked about your background, the training opportunities that are available in your workplace and your views on the skills that will be needed on the ships of the future. Most importantly, your answers are completely anonymous. You can be as frank and honest as you’d like, and your views won’t be shared with your employer or your colleagues.
“We’re hoping to see a wide range of seafarers take part, spanning different ages, ranks, regions and backgrounds – so please share the link to this survey with any seafarer you know who might be interested.
“Thank you for helping to shape the future of the maritime industry.”
