50th Anniversary of the Sinking of the Gulf Oil Tanker S/S Gulfstag Technical Seminar & Dinner

On October 24, 1966, after loading at the Gulf Refinery in Port Arthur, the S/S Gulfstag set sail. A few hours later, a catastrophic explosion ripped through the pump room, and set the ship’s stern afire. The crew was forced to abandon ship, and the ship capsized, and sank. This incident cost the lives of eight seafarers.
