The U.S. Coast Guard’s National Maritime Center issued the following notice on August 28:

National Maritime Center Open House Update

The National Maritime Center (NMC) will be opening its doors to the public for an open house and information session on Tuesday, September 15, 2015, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. EST.

The morning will consist of seven, 20-minute information sessions with subject matter experts from the Coast Guard Headquarters policy division as well as NMC experts from medical, safety and suitability, professional qualification, and course evaluations. Guided tours of the facility will take participants through the entire credential production process.

The afternoon will consist of three breakout sessions in which mariners and industry can meet face to face and have discussions with our experienced credentialing staff from the Training and Assessments Division, the Medical Evaluation Division, and the Mariner Evaluation Division. We will also have a sign-up sheet available to reserve a time to meet with NMC staff on individual mariner cases.

Free parking for attendees will be available onsite. Please note, a valid government-issued ID card will be required to enter the NMC facility. Individuals who do not RSVP and/or who are missing a valid ID may be denied access. Space is limited, so please RSVP early to guarantee participation. In order to maximize participation by all interested industry personnel, the NMC may limit the number of attendees from any one organization. Once RSVP limits have been reached, the online RSVP application will notify you, and an NMC representative will contact you regarding a wait list and your possible attendance.

The NMC is a drug-free and weapons-free facility. All persons and vehicles entering the facility are subject to search. The NMC will not be issuing credentials or accepting application packages during this event.
