Report Reaffirms Ex-Im Bank’s Great Value (3/16)

A new two-page report has been released by the Ex-Im Coalition, amplifying what Seafarers have known for years: The Export-Import Bank, commonly referred to as the Ex-Im Bank, is a self-sustaining, job-creating boon for the U.S. economy.

Using data released by the Congressional Budget Office, the report shows that the Ex-Im Bank covered all of its own expenses last year, and sent the remainder to the U.S. Treasury to help pay down the national debt. At the same time, this economic asset helped create jobs for U.S.-flag exporters, shipbuilders, mariners and longshoremen.

The SIU has always stood firmly in favor of the Ex-Im bank, and the following report illustrates some of the reasons why, after 80 years, our support remains strong.
