This photo was sent to the Seafarers LOG by retired SIU member Robert S. Gordy of Owings Mills, Md. It was taken April 22, 1967 aboard Curtis Bay Towing’s tug Kings Point. From the left are Mate Norman Pokrywka, Capt. Edward Bromwell, Deckhands Robert S. Gordy and John Carr, and Engineer “Reds” Forrester. All of the crew were charter members of the SIU-IBU.The “V” is for victory after a six-month strike was settled. The strike was led by Earl “Bull” Shepard, the port agent in Baltimore, and was backed by the entire SIU until victory was declared. The Kings Point, a 2,400 hp tug, was part of Curtis Bay’s Blue Diamond Fleet.
