Viking case settlement (3/4)

March 3, 2008 -- The International Transport Workers' Federation (ITF), Viking Line and the Finnish Seamen's Union (FSU) have released the following statement announcing that a negotiated settlement has been reached by all three parties involved in Viking Line vs ITF & FSU. Under the terms of the settlement the parties have agreed that the statement is the only press or public comment that they will make about the settlement.

Agreed Press Release

Viking Line Abp, the International Transport Workers’ Federation and the Finnish Seamen's Union have today agreed to settle their dispute as to the right of the ITF and FSU to take industrial action and/or to persuade others to take industrial action to deter the reflagging of the vessel ‘Rosella’ from the Finnish flag to the Estonian or other flag of a Member State of the European Communities and to prevent Viking from negotiating rates of pay and crew conditions other than with the FSU. These matters became the subject of legal proceedings in the Finnish courts and later became the subject of proceedings in London and before the European Court of Justice in Luxembourg in which Viking sought declaratory and injunctive relief and damages against the ITF and FSU.

Accordingly all legal proceedings relating to these disputes have been discontinued.

The transactions related to this settlement, which is confidential, do not adversely impact on Viking Line Abp result and have no material affect on the value of the shares of Viking Line Abp.
