NMC relocates (10/1)

The U.S. Coast Guard has issued the following update:

USCG National Maritime Center Relocates to West Virginia

The National Maritime Center is managing a project to restructure and centralize the Coast Guard’s Mariner Licensing and Documentation program. The project will consolidate the functions of 17 independently operating Regional Exam Centers (RECs) into one credential processing center located in Martinsburg, West Virginia. The goal of this effort is to improve customer service, decrease credential processing time, and improve consistency of our products and services.

In October 2006, the NMC began to centralize by moving some of the NMC operations in Arlington, Virginia to temporary facilities in Kearneysville, WV. On October 1, 2007, the remaining operations will be temporarily relocated to Kearneysville, WV and our facilities in Arlington will be shut down. The NMC will operate at the Kearneysville location until December 2007 when our entire operations will be moved to a permanent location in Martinsburg, WV.

Effective October 1, 2007, please address all correspondence to the NMC’s temporary address at:

Commanding Officer
U. S. Coast Guard
National Maritime Center
130 East Burr Blvd.
Kearneysville, WV 25430
Tel: (304)728-9100
Fax: (304) 728-7373
