During the SIUNA convention, the St. Mary’s County (Md.) Board of Commissioners presented Seafarers President Michael Sacco with a proclamation celebrating the 40th anniversary of the union-affiliated Paul Hall Center for Maritime Training and Education.
The school is located in Piney Point, Md. and was the host site for the convention, which took place Sept. 13-14. The facility opened in August 1967.

The proclamation describes the school’s namesake as “a true visionary” and credits Paul Hall Center employees and students as being “active members of our community [who] volunteer their time at many events…. The Board of Commissioners for St. Mary’s County, Maryland do hereby express our sincere congratulations to the Paul Hall Center for 40 years of state-of-the-art schooling for seafarers and for its significant contributions to our community.”
