The AFL-CIO announced it will conduct an election night “watch party” Tuesday evening at its headquarters, starting at 8 p.m., for union members, their families and guests. Participants will monitor up-to-the-minute election results and follow field reports about union member activism across the nation. The watch party is open to press.AFL-CIO President John Sweeney, Secretary-Treasurer Richard Trumka and Executive Vice President Linda Chavez-Thompson will be among the union officials who will join the watch party Tuesday evening.
Phone banks will run all day at the AFL-CIO headquarters, reaching out to union members, their families and retirees. The phone banks are open to reporters through appointment.
The AFL-CIO’s Labor 2006 program is reaching out to 13.4 million voters in 32 battleground states.
The federation’s headquarters building is located at 815 16th Street, NW in Washington, D.C.
