Maritime Trades launches site (6/30)

The Maritime Trades Department, AFL-CIO has issued the following announcement about the organization’s new presence on the web:

MARITIME TRADES LAUNCHES WEBSITE

Maritime Trades Department, AFL-CIO (MTD) President Michael Sacco announced the premier of the department’s website – www.maritimetrades.org. The site replaces the department’s long running newsletter, Maritime, which ceased publication in March.

The MTD website will contain general information on the department, its officers, its 24 affiliated international unions and its port maritime councils. It also will maintain links with various maritime, labor and governmental organizations.

The new website will be updated regularly with the latest news and information from maritime labor and the industry. It will announce upcoming events involving the MTD and its port councils.

The MTD is composed of 24 international unions representing more than 5 million members in maritime-related industries. The MTD has a series of 19 port maritime councils in major port cities across the United States and Canada.
