Union mourns Steve Judd (3/8)

The SIU is mourning the loss of one of its most dedicated and well-respected officials, Assistant Vice President Contracts Steve Judd.

Brother Judd died unexpectedly this past Sunday, March 5 in New Orleans. He was 45 years old.

Brother Judd joined the union in 1978 and sailed in the inland division before coming ashore in 1990. He served as the union’s port agent in New Orleans beginning in 1997 and was promoted to the assistant vice president’s post late last year.

Funeral services for Brother Judd are scheduled for March 9 in New Orleans.

A thorough remembrance will be published in the April edition of the Seafarers LOG. For now, let it be stated that Brother Judd embodied everything good about the SIU and the labor movement as a whole. His integrity was second to none.

Note: Brother Judd's family requests that in lieu of flowers, please make memorial contributions to your favorite charity.
