The U.S. Maritime Administration has posted some general information about National Maritime Day along with a brief history of the commemoration. Among many other noteworthy points, the agency reports that National Maritime Day 2006 “has been declared a Day of Remembrance and Prayer for Mariners and People of the Sea by the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops.” Check it out HERE ###
