Recapping the demonstration as well as the entire week – culminating with numerous events on Dec. 10, International Human Rights Day – the federation noted in a news release that “employers have stolen workers’ freedom to improve their lives through unions, and the laws are too weak to stop them.” The rallies “are pointing to workers’ right to improve their lives through a union as a human right included in the UN Declaration of Human Rights and calling on employers and lawmakers to save the middle class by restoring the freedom of workers to form unions and win union contracts.”
