U.S. Secretary of Labor Elaine L. Chao delivered the keynote address August 30 at the convention of the Seafarers-affiliated United Industrial Workers. The event took place at the Paul Hall Center for Maritime Training and Education, located in Piney Point, Md.Following her remarks, Secretary Chao toured the training center, including stops at the full mission bridge simulator, a water survival class, the manpower office and the fire fighting and safety school, located on a nearby campus. She was accompanied by SIU President Michael Sacco.
