Congressman Jefferson honored (5/12)

U.S. Rep. William Jefferson (D-La.) on May 10 received the 2005 Salute to Congress Award, presented by the Propeller Club of the United States near Washington, D.C. He was recognized for his strong support of the U.S. maritime industry.

"I am honored to be presented with such a prestigious award," Jefferson said. "I have worked very closely with the maritime industry throughout my tenure in Congress, and am especially pleased that I was able to gain House passage of vital U.S.-flag tonnage tax legislation that will strengthen the U.S.-flag fleet and provide additional employment for our hard-working merchant mariners."

Rep. Jefferson’s office issued a press release that is available here
