Pictures from D.C. Maritime Day ceremonies (5/20)

Pictured below are scenes from the National Maritime Day ceremonies conducted (respectively) by the U.S. Maritime Administration and the U.S. Military Sealift Command (MSC). The ceremonies took place May 20 in Washington, D.C.

U.S. Secretary of Labor Elaine L. Chao and U.S. Secretary of Transportation Norman Y. Mineta were the featured speakers at the Maritime Administration ceremony, hosted at the U.S. Navy Memorial. U.S. Rep. Gene Taylor delivered the keynote speech at MSC’s event, conducted at the Washington Navy Yard.

Seafarers and SIU officials along with apprentices from the Paul Hall Center for Maritime Training and Education attended the ceremonies. Complete coverage will be published in the June issue of the Seafarers LOG.
