The Coast Guard regional examination center (REC) in Puget Sound has relocated to the Jackson Federal Building in downtown Seattle.The center provides services pertaining to the evaluation, testing and issuance of licenses, merchant mariner documents, certificate of registry, and international certificates required by crew members serving on U.S.-flag vessels. The REC is also charged with regulatory oversight of maritime schools and institutions that offer approved training.
