Catholic Maritime Ministries to meet in Michigan (2/25)

The Apostleship of the Sea of the United States of America (AOSUSA) will conduct its annual conference at the Great Lakes Maritime Academy in Traverse City, Mich. from April 13-16, the organization announced.

“This meeting will bring together 100 chaplains and chaplaincy team members who work in the maritime world throughout the United States,” the AOSUSA said in a news release. “They will continue to address the pastoral care issues of the maritime community, and the future development of programs and ministry to cruise ships, to ports, to students in maritime academies, to fishermen, to seafarers, and to the families and ancillary workers in the maritime world.”

U.S. Maritime Administrator Capt. Bill Schubert is scheduled to participate. The Vatican also is sending a representative to the yearly meeting, according to the AOSUSA.

The release states that “all Catholics involved in Maritime Ministry are invited to attend. For further information, contact Rev. Fr. Russell Kohler, AOS-Detroit at (313) 965-4450.”
